Blog Posts Comments

Published by Tot's Mom under Weekend Q

Blogging supposedly gives us the opportunity to share our stories and write our opinions on whatever topic that strikes our fancy for the day. It is a means to communicate with our audience as the comments section allows an exchange of views, stories and opinions.

Many bloggers allow, not only a difference in opinion in their blogs, but also at times rude comments as they believe in freedom of expression. Because I myself was faced with such comments (I have deleted them because of the presence of “F” words in there) this week in one of my posts, let me ask you this for this weekend:

How do you deal with negative comments in your blog? Do you delete, edit or leave them as they are when you find them?

Dreaming of a Garden

Published by Tot's Mom under Subsidy

Whenever I go back to my parents’ home, it is always nice to sit outside in the garden and watch the cars and people that pass by. The presence of a garden means I have the option of sitting outdoors, especially when all I want is a breath of fresh air.

But now that I’m living in an apartment, that option is no longer available. Being confined in a small space nearly 30 floors above the ground means a better view but no garden. Having grown up in a house with a garden, I do kind of miss what I once took for granted.

So, whenever I see pictures of houses with beautiful patios and gardens and complemented by those comfortable patio furniture, my mind starts to wonder if I too can have a house like that one day. Well, given the price of real estate here, it is indeed a very, very distant dream. But I guess no harm in dreaming a little, right?

Sibling Rivalry

Published by Tot's Mom under Family

When you were growing up, do you often fight with your siblings and argue with them for the slightest reason? Personally, I don’t remember fighting with my brothers and sister that much until it hurts our relationship but in a lot of families, sibling rivalry can become a serious issue.

In my husband’s family, his sisters used to fight with each other until one finally moved out the moment she was able to afford doing so. The one who moved out, who is the third child among 4 siblings, often complained that the mom was always siding with the second sister which intensified the feeling of unfairness whenever an argument took place. So, she always felt that she was the least favourite among the four, which I think translated to a rivalry for affection and attention when young.

Now that they are all grown and living separately, they still get together now and then as most siblings would. I guess sibling rivalry is just a natural part of family life and when we all have passed that stage, we still can remain on civil terms with each other with brotherly or sisterly affection.

But whether those rivalries would have lasting impact on us psychologically is of course another issue. After all, it is indeed difficult for parents to be consistently fair at all times to every child, isn’t it?

A Treadmill at Home

Published by Tot's Mom under Subsidy

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a treadmill in your home whereby you can exercise whenever you choose to? Even when it is pouring outside, you can still have a jog and work out a sweat without having to worry about the weather.

What I see some people do is to put a TV right in front of their treadmill. Isn’t it cool to be able to keep fit while watching your favorite program at the same time? Furthermore, if you are always short of time but need an exercise all the same, having a TV in front in the treadmill is certainly a very practical idea. For instance, in the morning, you can easily catch a little news while on the treadmill before heading off to work.

So, if you are thinking of buying an exercise equipment for your home, a treadmill is always a good idea.

What Men Want

Published by Tot's Mom under Relationship

According to an article found in The Syney Morning Herald which mentioned a survey carried out by a UK-based dating agency, men listed the following criterias as their perfect woman:

1. Blue eyes
2. Long blonde hair
3. Occasionally wears glasses
4. Five feet eight inches tall
5. Weighs around 9.5 stones
6. A size 12
7. Good in bed
8. Earns less than $52,000 a year
9. Very good looking
10. Wacky personality
11. Rents a house or flat
12. Optimistic
13. Owns a Ford Ka or Mazda MX5
14. Nurse or PR Executive
15. No children
16. Drinks occasionally
17. Loves clubbing
18. Non-smoker

Is it any surprising to you? Guess men would not want too slim a woman going by the list but one thing that strikes me is that in today’s world of gender equality, men still prefer women who don’t earn too much and certainly not a high flyer in the corporate world. Their preference for a nurse or PR executive confirms it all.

And what about looks? No matter how much people say that they look at inner beauty rather than outer appearances, better-looking women would always have an edge as looks are still deemed important enough by those males surveyed to sit at number 9 on the list. But I think it works both ways and I’m pretty sure females too would give the same consideration on looks when they are seeking out a potential partner. Agree?

Anyway, do you have something to say about the list on what men want in a woman?

Upcoming Equestrian Event

Published by Tot's Mom under Subsidy

With the Olympics fast approaching, Hong Kong is all geared up to host the equestrian event for this once in 4 years sports extravaganza. It would indeed be exciting to watch this event live when the time comes.

It is always fun watching all those the riders maneuvering their horses through all the obstacles and doing what they have been trained to do. The understanding between the riders and their horses are certainly amazing with the horses cooperatively going through all the necessary steps to complete the routine.

Although horse riding would be an enjoyable past time, maintaining a horse is certainly not cheap. They require horse supplements to make them strong and healthy apart from their daily food intake and other medical attention. But if we can have afford one, it would certainly be fun, wouldn’t it?

Need to Pee?

Published by Tot's Mom under Weekend Q

Lets have fun this week. Forget about all those relationship and parenting stuff for a while with this one.

Just imagine you are walking on a street and in need of the loo. And you come across this one with one-way mirrors on all of its 4 sides.

Would you be comfortable doing whatever you need to do in the toilet above?
