Flying with a Kid

Published by Tot's Mom at 12:36 pm under Parenting

I came across this story about Southwest Airlines kicking off a mom and her 2-year-old from a flight bound for San Jose just before takeoff. The reason being the kid was acting too much his age by screaming and such.

I think we all know how irritating it can be when we have screaming kids on the plane. If you are sitting near one, and the kid is screaming and crying all the way, it can be a torture, especially if you are on a long flight.

But what happens if the kid is your own? Wouldn’t you feel somewhat uncomfortable to be disturbing all the other passengers on the plane?

Anyway, no matter how noisy and disturbing your kid may be, do you think it is right for a flight crew to throw both of you off the flight? I’m sure you won’t walk off a plane personally even if your kid is somewhat beyond control. Taking a flight is not like taking a bus, whereby you can always wait for another if you get down from the one you are on.

So, I guess it is up to the flight crew to evict you if your kid is really noisy and disturbing. But imagine that happening to you. Would you feel embarassed, or angry instead?
